Safety Patrol
The AAA School Safety Patrol program is the largest safety progam in the world. It began in 1920 and has provided a safer environment and educational opportunities for school children who participate. More than 654,000 children participate in over 34,500 schools throughout the country.
On November 7, 2018, Deerfield Elementary became the first school in Coffee County, including Tullahoma and Manchester, to implement the Safety Patrol. Safety Patrol officers are responsible for escorting students to and from their vehicles. They lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence every morning. Lastly, Safety Patrol assists with monitoring behavior during the morning assembly.
Students interested in the safety patrol are required to apply. These students are selected by a panel of teachers. principal and the School SRO. The panel selects students based on their grades, attendance and citizenship scores.Every new Safety patrol member is required to maintain passing grades, a 90 or above in citizenship and good attendance practices. These students are held to a higher standard and are considered leaders of our school. They set the example for the rest of the students.
